Concert broadcasts | Radio Sessions | Radio Interviews | TV-Show Performances
(*) Not on "BBC Rock Hour"
(**) Not on BBC "Stereo Pop Special"
(IC) These songs are included in the
"BBC Live In Concert" CD
(NP) These songs are included in the
"Not If It Pleases Me" CD
(TV) Only those tracks were featured on the BBC TV broadcast
- This is a show with the Rumour and the horn section. The tracks from the TV broadcast can be found on the Windsong CD "Live On The Test," WHISCD002, UK 1994. Unfortunately all the recordings on this CD are just in mono, when they could have used the stereo radio tapes, as they did on the tracks later included in the "BBC Live In Concert" and "Not If It Pleases Me" CDs.
Since in the list of all Whistle Test shows from 1972 to 1978 issued in VOX 9/94 there's no mention of this show, I guess the BBC TV broadcast even wasn't for the Whistle Test.
(KB): Only these tracks were featured on the "King Biscuit Flower Hour" broadcast
(TE): Only these tracks were featured on the "Thirsty Ear" broadcast
- I think "Lady Doctor," "Back to Schooldays," "The Heat in Harlem" and maybe also "Heat Treatment" from this show ended up (probably in remixed form) on "The Parkerilla." The "Thirsty Ear" broadcast also included two short GP interview snippets by Peter Gordon.
- Again a few tracks from this show ended up on "The Parkerilla." I just don't hear that any track from the actual broadcast is included. In my ears all seem to be a bit different to the ones found on "The Parkerilla."
- A partial later rebroadcast also included "Stick To Me."
(*) Those songs were not included in a later rebroadcast
- Great stuff. Much better than on the "Parkerilla." Also on this show was Rick Danko who played "Tired Of Waiting." The Rumour must have liked this song, as one year later it turned up on their own album.
- With the horn section. All tracks with the exception of "Fool's Gold"
and the last two can be found (in mono, unfortunately) on the Windsong
"Live On The Test" CD.
- This TV show also has been rebroadcast in Sweden. It starts with an aboriginal Maori song done by local people, then goes on to a short interview with Graham and some backstage talk. Then follows the show, again interrupted by a few interview snippets with Graham.
- Many new songs here. This is my favourite "Mercury Poisoning" performance. And to this ears, a bit in contrast to what GP often has said, the songs from "Squeezing Out Sparks" sound quite the same as they did later on the album.
(*) Not on "In Concert" BBC Transcription Service disc
(**) Not on "BBC Rock Hour" from 1979
The 1980 "BBC Rock Hour" starts with "Stick To Me" and omits "Soul Shoes"
(IC) Those songs ended up on the "BBC Live In Concert" CD
- This features the only half-official GP & the Rumour recording of "Crawling From The Wreckage," well known through the Dave Edmunds version. Hope this version once escapes on a rarities collection. The "In Concert" BBC Transcription Service disc reversed the running order of "Howlin' Wind" (first track on side 2) and "Heat Treatment" (last track on side 1). None of the broadcasts are complete, since even the BBC radio broadcast that included all the songs mentioned did fadeout during "Protection."
(*) Not on "The Best Kept Girl In The West" boot LP
(LS) To my ears those songs ended up on "Live Sparks"
- Half of the tracks from "Live Sparks" came from this show, the rest originated from the Park West Chicago 4/28/1979 show below. And is this the show where the GP songs from the later King Biscuit Flower Hour by Roxy Music and GP (airdate Feb 3, 1980) came from?
(LG) Those songs ended up on the "Local Girls" boot LP
- All songs until and including "Soul Shoes" ended up on the "Live In America 1979" boot CD.
(LS) To my ears those songs ended up on "Live Sparks"
- This is the show where some other "Live Sparks" tracks came from.
- There also exist some rebroadcasts that only aired a certain part of this show. One ended with "I Want You Back." The other broadcast started with "Passion Is No Ordinary Word" and omitted "You Can't Be Too Strong."
- Those "Rockpalast-Nights" usually featured 3 bands. This one had GP, The Police and Jack Bruce. At the end GP and Brinsley jammed with Jack Bruce and his band on "Spoonful." Check the end of the Jack Bruce part in Michael Marsch's Rockpalast archive for an audio link of the song, and check here for some great pictures of the show. According to GP this was the last GP & the Rumour concert ever.
(*) Not on BBC "In Concert" radio broadcast
(**) Not on BBC "In Concert" disc #287
(***) Not on "BBC Rock Hour." The "BBC Rock Hour"
also has a slightly different song order
(IC) Those songs ended up on the "BBC Live In Concert" CD
- "Howlin' Wind" had also been included in the "BBC Rock Hour #344: Halloween Special," aired October 31, 1982, and "Temporary Beauty" had also been included in the "BBC Rock Hour Special #352: The best of 1982," aired the week of December 26, 1982. And "You Hit the Spot" and "Another Grey Area" from this concert ended up on the "No More Excuses" single B-side.
(KB): Only those tracks were featured on "King Biscuit."
(WV): Those three tracks were exclusive to the "Wolfgang's Vault" download.
- The MTV concert is or maybe was available on the video "Graham Parker Live," and the sound part of the MTV show also was used on the boot CD "Swingtime in Chicago."
- The 1985 KBFH rebroadcast only had the first four songs, it ended with "Local Girls." Most of these songs have been issued on the "King Biscuit Flower Hour presents Graham Parker" CD from 2002.
(*) Those tracks were not included on "In Concert" or the "Sweet Home Chicago" boot CD.
- For the Westwood One "In Concert" show and so also for the "Sweet Home Chicago" boot CD the running order of the songs has been slightly changed, see the boot CD description. The "Swingtime in Chicago" boot CD includes just all the songs until and including "Discovering Japan."
- On his summer 1986 tour of Europe GP previewed some songs that must have been intended for his abandoned Atlantic album, such as "Dead To The World" and "Burning On A Higher Flame." He also covered Bobby Blue Bland's "Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City."
Thunder & Rain / Dead To The World / No Holding Back / Fools' Gold / Durban Poison / Howlin' Wind / Sinkin' Low / I Wouldn't Treat A Dog (The Way You Treated Me) / Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City / You Hit The Spot / Burning On A Higher Flame / The Weekend's Too Short / Nobody Hurts You / You Can't Be Too Strong
- Again a Bobby Blue Bland cover: "I Wouldn't Treat A Dog (The Way You Treated Me)." And "There's A Ghost In My House" is a cover of the Motown oldie by R. Dean Taylor that The Fall covered in 1987 as well.
(*) Not on Westwood One "In Concert"
(FP) Those songs were reaired on the Westwood One "Fantasy Palace" show #89-07 w/ GP,
The Police & Eddie Money, broadcast date 2/6/1989.
- "She's a Runaway" is originally from the BoDeans.
- From the Plaza Casino in Atlantic City where WMMR radio in Philadelphia broadcast a week of shows featuring various recording artists. The interviewer says the last time GP was here he was at a Philadelphia club called Chestnut Cabaret, 6/2/1988. Anyone that could verify the show's date?
- Solo performances.
- 95 minutes of music by D. Edmunds, GP, Dion, Kim Wilson and Steve Cropper. With Phil Chen (bass), Dave Charles and Terry Williams (drums), and the Miami Horns. "Heat Treatment" also can be found without the outro on DIR "Live Cuts" from 6/18/1990. Only difference: On "Live Cuts" GP introduces "Heat Treatment," on the KBFH he doesn't.
- Solo performances and an interview.
- "Howling Wind" from this solo performance is available on the CD "The Best of Mountain Stage, Volume 8," released 9/5/1995 by Blue Plate Music.
- "Disney's America" appeared just in the promo for this solo show.
- with the Episodes.
(*) At least those tracks ended up on the Live From NY album, I think
- The tracks marked (TD) have also been broadcast on Todd Rundgren's "The Difference" radio show #36/1995, first aired 9/4/1995. The "World Cafe" broadcast ended with a "Soul Shoes" that didn't come from this show, but from the 1976 "Live at Marble Arch" promo.
- Solo acoustic set.
- Solo performances except for "Disney's America" which was performed with the Mountain Stage band. GP also jammed with Chris Jagger and the house band on the show's final song, "Rock The Zydeco."
- Solo performances. Prior to the concert GP gave an hourlong interview on WNTI, the Centenary College radio station.
- Anyone who would know more about this broadcast from the "Tellin' Stories" tour with Radney Foster, Jeff Black & Tom Freund?
- "Temporary Beauty" from this solo performance is available on the CD "Tuned In - WDST 20th anniversary edition."
- Solo performances from this show as support for Sonia Dada.
- Solo performances.
- Solo performances.
(*) Not on the "103 Degrees In June" CD
- GP w/ The Figgs. Most of the songs from this broadcast ended up on the "103 Degrees In June" CD.
- GP solo.

- Absolutely great versions, finally released on Not If It Pleases Me, Hux Records 1998.
Hotel Chambermaid / Pourin' It All Out / Help Me Shake It / Heat Treatment
- Also released on Not If It Pleases Me, Hux Records 1998.
Intro (Let Me Get Sweet On You) / White Honey / That's What They All Say / Fools' Gold / Pourin' It All Out
- Live in the studio performances w/ the Rumour (Brian Robertson did replace an ill Brinsley) in this weekly Dutch radio talk show. GP was a bit late for "That's What They All Say," since he noticed that the Rumour started into the song while he was still in the toilet!

Discovering Japan / Big Man On Paper / My Love's Strong / I'm Your Puppet

- The last track from this 1991 ROL solo acoustic session.
Platinum Blonde / Short Memories / Long Stem Rose / Does Your Chewing Gum Loose It's Flavour / Howlin' Wind

Platinum Blonde / ???
- I just know of this track from the solo session that ended up on a limited edition CD called "Update Live Vol. 2."

Pollinate / Haunted Episodes / ???
- "Pollinate" is the track from the solo session that ended up on a limited edition double-CD called "KGSR Broadcasts Vol. 3," 1995. And "Haunted Episodes" also must have been performed due to a remark GP had made at the Union Ballroom concert later that day. Weren't there other tracks recorded for this session as well?
Force Of Nature / Haunted Episodes / Crawlin' From The Wreckage
- Solo performances.
White Honey
- Again a studio solo performance, and GP talks a bit about his early 20ties before becoming a musician. "White Honey" has been reaired in show #70/96-18, airdate 4/29/1996, and in show #97-18, airdate 4/28/1997.
