(*) Track not to be found (in this form) on a regular album
(**) Track not to be found on a regular album or on a compilation

BACK TO SCHOOLDAYS (*)

- Not the version from "Howlin' Wind," this demo version from 1975 first appeared uncredited on the "Bunch Of Stiffs" album (Stiff SEEZ 2, 1977, UK). Now also on the Stiff box set (Demon/Rhino). In fact this version has been the first collaboration of GP with the Rumour, if only through the means of overdubbing. The original tape had Noel Brown on slide guitar, and Dave Robinson "accidentially on purpose" (GP in a spring 1979 Hot Wacks interview) wiped off the bass and drum tracks to try out Steve Goulding and Andrew Bodnar, then had Martin Belmont add some licks, and Bob Andrews play some piano. According to that Hot Wacks interview, some singers called Beryl Billabong and the Sheilas can be heard on backing vocals.

WHEN THE LIGHTS GO DOWN (**)

- From a Rick Springfield soundtrack LP ("Hard To Hold," RCA 1984), with the Steady Nerves band, but Huw Gower (formerly of The Records) on guitar for Brinsley.

WRAPPING PAPER (**)

- Acoustic solo version recorded on March 15th 1991 for the Dutch "2 Meter Sessies"-program. Available on the CD "2 Meter Sessies, Vol. 2," Varagram/Radio Records/Polygram 845 834-2, 1991, Holland.

PLATINUM BLONDE (**)

- Probably taped 9/1992 for a radio session at Belgian radio station "Studio Brussel." Available on the limited edition CD "Update Live Vol. 2."

PARALYSED (**)

GP: vocals / Steve Ferrone: drums and percussion / Chris Spedding: guitars / Kenny Aaronson: bass / Jimmy Destri: organ and piano / Frank Black, Johnny Colla, Jol Dantzig, Lyle Workman, Tony Visconti, Sally Tiven, Jon Tiven, and GP: background vocals

- Not the GP song, this song you know from Elvis' version is from a Otis Blackwell tribute CD called "Brace Yourself: A Tribute to Otis Blackwell," Shanachie 0 57 02, 1994.

NO WOMAN NO CRY (**)

- A solo performance from 1990 featured in an album called "In Their Own Words," Razor & Tie RT 2813, USA 1994, an album that celebrates 20 years of performances at the Bottom Line Club. Other artists include Dion, R. Thompson and Joey Ramone. The album also was issued 1995 as "The Bottom Line Vol 1" (Nectar Masters NTMCD501) budget priced in the UK.

THE MADNESS OF LOVE (**)
(from the Richard Thompson tribute album "Beat the Retreat," Capitol 1994.)

Graham Parker: vocal, acoustic guitar, harmonica / Jamie Hoover: electric guitar / Joel Diamond: Hammond B-3 organ / Graham Maby: electric bass, background vocal / Gary Burke: drums, background vocal

- GP notes in the press kit to the disc: After a show in Los Angeles (producer) John Chelew approached me to see if I would like to spend my day off (on a grueling tour schedule) in a studio, singing a Richard Thompson song. After I had agreed, he played me a pedestrian little article called "Ring The Changes" which sounded like one of those finger-in-the-ear Shetland pullover folk tunes. I rejected it and John then offered up this weird number called "Madness Of Love" which, he informed me, was rather obscure, and so I immediately agreed to do it.

EVERY DAY I HAVE TO CRY (**)

GP: vocals / Mickey Curry: drums and percussion / Spooner Oldham: organ/piano / Muzz Skillings: bass / Jon Tiven: electric and acoustic guitar / Dan Penn: acoustic guitar / Sally Tiven: muffled electric guitar / Donnie Fritts: electric piano, piano / Alan Merrill, Cheryl Beattie, Mitch Weissman, Sarah Nagourney, and Sally Tiven: background vocals

- From the Arthur Alexander tribute album "Adios Amigo," Razor & Tie / Demon 7/1994.

HOWLIN' WIND (**)

- Solo acoustic performance taped for Mountain Stage 7/21/1991, available on "The Best of Mountain Stage, Volume 8," released by Blue Plate Music, 9/5/1995.
