Fort Saffron

General Hints

This is one of the the Forts on the way to the Abyss. There is much trouble with bandits around the fort.

Novak	Commander	Will ask you to kill some bandits who are hiding around the fort. He will also tell you to talk to Hodgson in Fort Emerald.	Quest
Dilbert	Mage	Tells you a gruesome story about Sabrina and the Chasm Drake. They were members of a party which tried to kill the Chasm Drake but Sabrina stepped on a rune which burned Dilbert. The others got killed.
Mona	Prisoner	She is rather abusive but mentions the Scimitar.

Notes

It is always a good idea to talk to everybody. The following notes give hints on hidden rooms, traps and puzzles. There are some things in cupboards or just lying around which you can take or steal. There are also some Healing Herbs in a little garden in the SE.

Bandits

The bandits have a secret lair in the west of Fort Saffron. There is a hidden door in the south and one in the north. If you enter from the south you come across some guards staight away. They drop a few items and there are few potions in the chests.

To the north is the their lair. Through the door you will be greeted by the Brigand Tellamer (rather tough), an Assasin and lots of bandits (Hasting and Blessing before entering). After dispatching them you can find some treasure including 750 coins in the locked cupboard in the NW. North of the lair is a passage with 5 Watch Lizards. This is the way in from the north.

You can tell Novak that you have killed the bandits. He is pleased and you get about 50xp and 1 reputation.

I find it easier to enter from the north. You start off by killing the Guard Lizards but Tellamer's henchmen come out one after another so you can finish them off one or two at a time. Once everything outside has been eliminated you can enter the lair and find the brigand leader alone.

Mona/Theresa

If you have joined the Scimitar you can tell Mona the password after which she is much more friendly but you cannot talk her into joining you.

Secret Doors

There is a secret door in the SW which can be opened by a button the NW wall outside the fort to the south. You need at least TU 11 to operate it. The same door can also be opened from the inside by a button in the north wall of the niche.
In the southern bandit passage there is a short side passage leading east to a dead end. In the north wall of this dead end is a button which opens a way into an office in the south of the fort. If you come in this way you can rifle the desk and the chest without anyone seeing you. If you enter from the barrack to the north you must leave the door open and will certainly be seen stealing.
To the north outside the fort is a nook in the west wall. In the west wall of this nook is a button which opens a path to the south. This secret door can also be opened from the south by a button in the north wall towards the end of the passage.

Job Board

There is no Job Board in this town.
