- "Purity of Essence" was supposed to be released by Hannibal in the U.S., but Stiff wanted more money for the tapes than Hannibal was willing to pay. To overcome this obstacle, the Rumour returned to the studio and recorded an entirely new version of the album for Hannibal. (Geoff Cabin, Rock Beat Int'l #11, Summer 1997)
The Performers:
Carrie Booth: vocals, keyboards
Andrew Bodnar: bass, vocals, acoustic guitar
Morgan
Guitar on "Continental" & "Blue Cavaliers:" Brinsley Schwarz
- Here's more info from Andrew: Carrie was one of the keyboard players recruited during my time with the Thompson Twins; she’d previously played in The Monochrome Set. After we left the TTs we teamed up with Vikki Morgan (who is a fabulous seamstress, artist and actress - she mostly does theatre work and TV nowadays, and has been in quite a few episodes of our long running crime series Midsomer Murders along the way) and put the Sing Market together. Carrie and I did all the writing and recording, and for live performances we’d pull in various guitarists, drummers etc. Our shows were very theatrical/art-house! You’d have loved it or hated it, but we enjoyed ourselves for about 2-3 years before going our separate ways.

Quake Records reissue (Quake QR007, 3/2017, USA) bonus tracks: Battersea Bears (from "35 !!! Years Bear Family Records," BCD 17035 PR , 2010, Germany) / Shape Shifters / An Atkins Diet / Big Sky / Bluesy / Pickin' With Brinsley / Twelve By Three / The High Country
- The instrumental "Rockin' Hawk" already had been performed in 1975 Rumour concerts. Martin writes regarding the bonus tracks on the 2017 reissue: Not long after the release of "Big Guitar" in 1994 I was back in Pete Thomas's studio to record "Big Sky" with him. It was for a compilation project that was later abandoned. Several years later I had a handful of new tunes that I recorded with Roy Dodds at his house with a vague idea of a follow up to the first album which then became a different project called "The Guest List". "Battersea Bears" had first been released on "35 !!! Years Bear Family Records," BCD 17035 PR, 2010, Germany, and features Martin on guitars, Roy Dodds on drums, Kevin Foster on bass, and Richard Allen on tuba and tenor horn. Again Martin: I already had the song recorded with a provisional title of Battersea Square (which is where we recorded Richard Allen playing the Tenor Horn and Tuba). Bear Family asked me for a track for the 35th anniversary box set so I gave them that and they asked if the title could have the word 'bear' in it so that's how it came to be called "Battersea Bears."

- Katrina Revisited is an album of songs that Bob wrote but never released while living in New Orleans through Hurricane Katrina.
The pain, frustration, and joy of returning home after the storm is vivid even now.
2019 marks the 50th anniversary of New Orleans Jazz Festival, which seems a fitting time to mark the album's release.
Performed & produced by Bob Andrews
- Inspired by the great singer Donny Hathaway and Ableton Live software. A song that's a joy to sing.

- August 2019 was the 50th anniversary of the famous Woodstock Music Festival, when 400,000 people gathered together to celebrate music, peace and love in an era not seen before or since. We now, for sure, live in very different times.
Performed & produced by Bob Andrews
- An organ jazz instrumental that grew out of a little jam a couple of years ago. The theme tune came out just as is played. The Hammond B3 organ was a huge early influence on Bob's eventual musical career. He thrilled to the sound of players like Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Jack McDuff and Larry Young in the early 60's, and was also fortunate to see great English Hammond organists play live during that formative period - Brian Augur, Georgie Fame, Steve Winwood and, of course, the late Keith Emerson.
