Notes

I prefer to enter from the north and then go west, removing the guards in the niche just west of the entrance and the resistance in and around the laboratory to the NW. Then south across the bridge to the shrine where Shaman Kel'Voss officiates. When I have dealt with all resistance around the shrine and northern entrance I go round the perimeter of the lake, removing all opposition.

The Lake

Now you can explore the lake with the boat, which is conveniently moored to one of the landing stages. Actually there is only one useful place you can row to: the little landing place directly south of the northern entrance to the cave. There you can find a way to a crystal shard.

The Southern Part of the Cave

Directly east of the shrine is a nook harbouring three Burning Fungi. Further south you meet Stonecarver Tress and a variety of sliths. It is best to pick up all the loot that is lying around (not forgetting the hidden chest) before going upstairs.

Upstairs

When you reach the top of the stairs you notice that it is eerily quiet and unguarded. The only sound is the bubbling and hissing of the slime pools. There are large, stone basins of green slime lining the corridor. They hiss and pop as you walk by. Slith breeding experiment? No. We will see later what they are. The plans that Rosie wants are in the chest just north of the table.

Tassik-Schai

Round the corner is the master of this fort Tassik-Schai accompanied by a Scribe and three Consorts. In this fight it is better to concentrate on the henchmen and to try and get your party past the enemies, near the portcullis because the chief has a trick up his sleave. When he is weakened, he calls up slimes from the pools you passed earlier.

So the best strategy is to remove the others, particularly Tassik' Scribe who is a mage. Then hole yourself up in a corner near the portcullis and pummel Tassik as hard as you can. The quicker you can kill him, the less time he has to call up his pets. After he is dead it is just a matter of disposing of the slimes. For this sort of battle I find Flamestrike (Divine Fire) very useful, as it is the only area-spell in the game.

The sliths drop a few useful item – lots of Platinum Rings and a pair of Dualist's Gloves. Behind the portcullis is a Fine Slith Spear. If you look in the basin you gain some experience.

Now back to Fort Dranlon and Cotra for your rewards.
