General Hints

As the name implies, there are lots of various lizards here: cave lizards, fire lizards and even a drake. Although this dungeon is a bit tough for a low level party it is worth trying to clear it out before attempting the Dark Waters. As there are some lizard eggs which you need for a future quest you can save some time later in the game by getting them now. You can also learn a level 3 spell.

Notes

Just inside is a cave with the remains of a merchant caravan which was apparently ambushed by cave lizards which are still around. There is a bit of loot to be picked up. North of this cave are some fire lizards. When you have killed them you can procede north to some lava. Accross the lava are lots of lizard eggs. If you have good pathfinder you can cross the lava without taking too much damage. The best way is to enter combat mode, cast Safe Travel if you have it and send one or two party members who have lots of health points and good Pathfinder across the lava. Your priest(s) can remain behind healing any damage while the others pick the eggs up. You can sell most of the eggs but you must hold onto one, which will be needed later.

To the west and northwest are some caves with lots of cave lizards and a fire lizard but not much loot.

The Upper Level

Right in the middle of the first level is a ramp leading to the upper level. To the southeast are more cave lizards and two rather tough fire lizards which should be eliminated first. Directly north of the entrance to this level is a small cave with two fire lizards. In their nest is a egg which explodes causing considerable damage if you take it.

In the NE corner of this level is a stalagmite which needs Move Mountains L2 to get past, but if you do, there are four Rubies around the corner.

In the middle of this level are four giant lizards. There is nothing in their nests.

The Drake

In the west is a passage leading north to the drake's lair. He is a rather tough customer, so you should prepare well for the fight. Since you certainly do not yet have the Beast Ceremony (unless you have been playing around with the character editor) you will have to beef the party up with individual spells. As soon as I reach the the last corner before his lair I haste a spell caster and enter combat mode. I let non-spell casters take any useful potions they have like Strength or Haste and then simply parry until the spell casters have cast enough spells that everyboby is hasted, blessed and shielded. I then send the warriors in, concentrating on the drake. The cave lizards can be dealt with by my mage using Ice Lances. The same goes for any summoned creatures: just concentrate on killing the drake and keeping your people healthy.

With a good party and a bit of luck you should be able to dispose of the drake and his buddies. In his corner you will find a Shield Ring, a Curing Potion and a Drake Egg. Around the corner (go east and search in the NE corner) is a hidden passage leading to a spell tome which teaches Light L3.
