WS23/24: Computer Algebra in Physics

1st half of semester, course #52660, lecture with exercises.
Class meetings: WS23/24, Tu/Th/Fr 16:30-18:00, PHY 5.1.34A.

Goals:

Participants will be able to solve a number of advanced problems in physics symbolically on the computer, identify and apply suitable concepts from polynomial ideal theory and other fields to algorithmically approach complex calculations, and be aware of specific strengths of different computer algebra systems. A focus will be on the treatment of multivariate rational functions, finite field sampling and rational reconstruction techniques.
