Research Profile
I am a philosopher working at the intersection of formal epistemology, probability logic, philosophy of science, and the psychology of reasoning. My research combines formal and conceptual analysis with empirical methods to investigate rational reasoning and argumentation under uncertainty.
Education and Qualifications
I received my first PhD in psychology (with distinction) from the University of Salzburg (Austria, 2006) and my second PhD in philosophy (with distinction) from Tilburg University (The Netherlands, 2012), where I was affiliated with the Tilburg Center for Logic and Philosophy of Science. I completed my habilitation in philosophy at the University of Regensburg (Germany, 2024) and received the 2025 Habilitation Prize from the University Foundation Pro Habilitatione.
Academic Career
After my postdoctoral research at the Department of Psychology at the University of Salzburg, I moved to the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy at LMU Munich (Germany) in 2010, where I worked until 2018. I subsequently held several positions at the University of Regensburg, first as a Research Associate (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter), then as an Akademischer Rat auf Zeit (roughly equivalent to an Assistant Professor), and later as Interim Professor of Theoretical Philosophy (Winter Semester 2025/26). I also worked on Heinrich Wansing's ERC Advanced Grant project Contradictory Logics: A Radical Challenge to Logical Orthodoxy (ConLog) at Ruhr University Bochum.
I have been teaching philosophy at the University of Regensburg since 2015 and have held the title of Privatdozent there since 2024.
