The inhabitants of this town are not at all friendly to start with.

When Haineux eventually lets you in you find everybody rather hostile. You can rest if you are low on health or spell points. You can have a look around but there is not much to see until you reach the middle of the barracks in the east where four Vahnatai Blades and a Keeper suddenly come out of hiding and attack you.
After disposing of them you can unlock the door in the NE corner of the room and go through it to meet the commander of the fort Mahr-Tel. When he has read the oders from Olgai and convinced himself that they are genuine, he is most apologetic and offers to help you. He will tell you about the Barrier Tunnel and the Empire forces beyond it.
There is a locked storeroom to the north which has a few supplies but probably nothing you could use for the forthcoming attack. You should in any case rest and make sure that you have brewed all the potions (particularly Energy) you could need. Then off through the gates where a guard will ask if you are ready to march on Ornotha Ziggurat. If you say "Yes" you set the machinery in motion. Time is now of the essence.
There is no inn in this town but you can rest in a room in the west.
