There is a Temple in the middle of the caves. There are naturally lots of Araneae all over the place. It is better to circle the caves first in oder to eliminate the araneae. Then you can try to get into the temple.
The Aranea do not drop many items but there is a lot of gold lying around. In the north is a Cursed Large Shield. There are a few bodies lying around to be searched.
There is a hidden passage in the middle of the north wall. This leads to a niche guarded by magic barriers and an aranea which is sitting behind a rune. After you have disposed of the Aranea and step on the rune, you will be asked if you want to read the left or right rune. The left one I have not succeded in reading. The right one teaches Fireblast L3.
There are four hidden passages leading towards the temple. Three of them lead to dead ends. The only entrance is from the North. There is a small lobby before the actual temple. Here you should cast Haste/Beast Ceremony and enter combat mode. Inside there are three Elder Araneae and the Spider Queen. They drop quite a lot of loot, particularly gold. If you rob the altar you get 500 coins and the Dread Curse, which Throndell in the Tower of Magi will cure for 500 coins! You can also pick up the Spider Queen's Fangs, for which Phyella in Fort Draco will reward you.
A Quarz Crystal for the Crystal Cave is on a corpse in the NW corner.
