General Hints

Pyrog is an arogant piece of work. When you enter the cave, the giant guards are friendly (or rather – not hostile). In the north behind the dragon is a locked door, which can be opened only by the key hanging around his neck. As there seems to be no other key, you have to fight him.

Notes

Make preparations for a hard fight before talking to Pyrog (Beast Ceremony, Heal etc.). Then challenge him. All the giants around the caves come to his aid. I find Lightning Spray the most effective spell against them. Firblast does not affect Pyrog, costs a lot more and does not do much more damage to giants.

Treasure

When you kill Pyrog you get a Wrought Iron Key. The giants drop lots of money and Pyrog a gold ring. On the landing leading up to Pyrog is a Balm of Life and two empty chests. The caves to the east and west do not contain anything very interesting.

Pyrogs Chambers

Behind the door to the north which you can now unlock with Pyrog's key, is the Bone Room which except for bones is empty. In the NE and NW corners are hidden passages which are trapped and have lava rivers running accross them (Safe Travel L3). It does not really matter, which one you take: you come to a cave in the north with a lava cross in the middle and two demons. After killing them you can pick up some nice treasure: around 600 gold, Cursed Plate Mail, a Steel Halberd, a Yew Crossbow, Arrows of Light and a Rod of Major Call. But you still have not found the Brooch you were after.

In the middle the east wall of the eastern passage, between the pools of lava, is another secret passage leading to a chamber with a chest guarded by another demon. Here is the Chalcedony Brooch.
