General Hints

Poor Motrax is getting rather old, even for a dragon. He is however willing to talk to you and give you some useful information.

(One trinket was an ivory brooch and his pets are fire lizards.)
Zeld Ghost At the end of a secret passage to the west of the entrance to the cave is a ghost, which tells you to steal Motax' treasure. He tells you where it is and that all the traps have been set off. That is what he thinks!

It is always a good idea to talk to everybody. The following notes give hints on hidden rooms, traps and puzzles.

If you ask Motrax about the scroll of history that Claudette wants, he will tell you that he does not have it and will recommend trying Khoth (who actually does have it).

Motrax's Pets und his Treasure

If you are persistant, he will tell you a lot. The Stone Key you will need later is at C on the Outdoor Map. He will also tell you that he threw some trinkets to his pets, who are a whole brood of fire lizards living in the cave to the west. When you have eradicated them you can pick up some items (coins, a ruby and a Rod of Minor Call). The chest contains an Ivory Brooch.

Motrax has his sleeping quarters to the east. There is a secret passage which leads to his treasure. On the way to his treasure trove you come to a point where you will be warned that "the corridor ahead is blocked by a bright blue, shimmering curtain of light. It's very delicate, thin as a bubble and to keep walking down the passage you'll have to pass through it." If you do so, you will make the town angry, which means you will have to kill not only Motrax but also his guards. AverMan however gives a tip from PantherShadow, who says "It is possible to steal Motrax's treasure without making anyone mad. Just walk up to the traps (in as straight a line as you can get) and enter combat mode. Then, leave combat mode. Your party should move a few spaces forward. Do this until you reach the boat. You'll still have to kill the statue, but Motrax and his friends won't know you did anything." There is a really nice lot of loot there (including a Dexterity Bracelet, an Immunity Ring, lots of coins and a bottle of wine which you can give to the depresseed Gremlims) – all very welcome at an early stage in the game.
