When you get here you find a lot of Sliths moping around feeling very sorry for themselves. They tell you that a group lead by Sss-Thsss turned nasty and that they must atone for the evil deeds of these and other Sliths. They have also lost their prized Answering Stone which they have not been able recover and hope that you can find it.

It is always a good idea to talk to everybody. The following notes give hints on hidden rooms, traps and puzzles.
Except for the first triangle and a lot of morose Sliths there is not much in the village. So you go off in the only direction possible: to the caves in the northwest and soon find a secret door to the dark passages.
You need six metal triangles to be able to get through the gate on level 3. They are to be found in the following places:
You start off by meeting two fire lizards. A bit further on are two more fire lizards and a drake on a ledge, which can only be killed by magic and ranged weapons. After that there are lots of lizards, fire lizards and a drake or two. You can find a bit of loot in their nests.
After exploring and killing off all the pests you can find a secret passage in the south wall of a passage. This leads over the river. To the west is a cave with a secret passage revealing an amber. Then to the SE corner and down to level two.
Here are cave slimes and fire lizards all over the place. You first need to cross the river (fire lizards). Then either to the SW or NE. In the SW are some larger caves with lizards and cave slimes but no treasure. Going north from the SW corner of the level you come to various passages. In the middle of the northernmost passage is a secret door to a cave where two fire lizards are guarding a corpse, which has a metal triangle. To the SE corner of the passages leading to this cave is another hidden door to a cave where three spirits are standing over some recently killed Sliths – probably the expedition the Sliths in the village told you about. The corpse has a metal triangle and there is also a boat here, which you can take.
To the NE are some slimes and lone giant lizards. In a cave to the NW of this area is a drake with four lizards. If you look at the map you see a large blank area to the NE corner of the level. There are three secret doors to this area. Whichever one you take you will find lots of webs and eldar araneae. The entrance in the SW corner of this complex is probably best, but you must be prepared to be attacked from all sides and to be webbed. The araneae drop some Fangs but there is no other treasure except for a chest in the NE corner, which you cannot open (yet).
If you take the boat and explore the river, you find a lake right in the centre of the level. The southern exit is blocked by rocks, so you will have to find another route to this arm later. To the east is a small bank with a secret door in the north leading to a cave with four spirits and a wight. On the dark altar is a golden drinking cup but nothing else.
In the NW corner are two landing places. One leads upwards to the first level, where you only find a corpse with a slith spear and a blessed buckler. The second one leads down to the third level.
You come to the 3rd level in the NW corner and must proceed along the northern passage. There are demons guarding the bridges and a drake with three mutant lizards in the cave in the NE corner. This cave contains some good treasure (coins, slith spear and magic lockpicks).
You can take either bridge and explore the SE or the SW. The eastern one leads first to a swampy cave with a basilisk but no treasure. Further south and then east over the river you come to a cave with some statues and two ur-basilisks. A crystal charm and or shield is an absolute must for your warriors. South of this cave are the gates which need the six triangles.
The western bridge takes you first to the central area. Here is a cave with a demon and mutant lizards. In a cave NE of this one is an ur-basilisk. None of these caves yields any treasure. It is probably best to head west and south.
In the SW corner of this level are some ruins guarded by mutant lizards. In the SE of this area is a locked room with two demons. The tome in this room is unreadable. In the NW of the area is a room with a single basilisk. There is a hidden passage in the NW corner of this room leading to a trapped chest with five Ambers, a pair of Nimble Gloves and three Blessed Javelins.
The temple is the extreme SW corner is locked. You find it empty and on the altar are three metal triangles. As soon as you take them two Slith Avatars appear. It is therefore a good idea to cast Beast Ceremony and enter combat mode before approaching the altar.
Before you can complete the quest you must speak to Legare. Right in the middle of this level is a hidden door near the SW corner of a passage. This leads back up to the river arm which was blocked by rocks on the 2nd level. Legare is camping here. He will tell you about the failed expedition and will teach you a ritual you will need to get the Answering Stone.
Once you have the six triangles and learned the chant from Legare you can go off to the gates in the SE corner of the 3rd level. The six triangles open the gate, but as soon as you step into the room 4 Slith Avatars apear in the crypt and a Haakai to the north. After dispatching these tough monsters you can seach the crypt. All the sarcophagi are empty. The Obelisks are bare and the statues tell you nothing. The gates to the south are locked closed and you get a message to the effect that they will remain so (at least for the progeny of Thsss).
There is however a secret passage in the west wall of the crypt. Using Lgare's ritual you can locate the Answering Stone. There is also an amber lying anmong the refuse.
Go back to Sss-Voss and give her the Answering Stone. You get 50xp and she will tell you that your reward is in a chest on the 2nd level. So now back down to NE of the second level. If you have not already cleared the araneae you must do so now. When you finally get there you find you can now open the chest which contains a pair of Boots of Speed.
