Avernum is effectively at war with the Sliths to the west and with the Nephilim to the east. There are Arenea to the north and other monsters all around. That Fort Dranlon is right on the front line, is obvious as soon as you enter the town: there are magical barriers blocking gaps in the walls and guards are on the look out everywhere. There is an imfimary, a large barracks and a fort mage but only one shop which sells a colourful mixture of goods.

It is always a good idea to talk to everybody. The following notes give hints on hidden rooms, traps and puzzles.
There is no inn in this town but you can rest in a room to the west.
There are lost of dead bodies lying around outside the walls. One in the NE has a Slith Spear, otherwise there is not much to be found.
In the storeroom to the SW are many crates and barrels. One contains 30 Steel Arrows which are not yours. You can push the crate into the resting room just to the north, close the doors and empty the crate.
The crates in Sylow's shop also contain a few nice items which you could steal in the same manner if you think it is worth the effort.
