Towns

It is often diffucult to remember where one can find a particular item that is urgently needed or who in the area gives the best prices for loot. Here is an summary. Details can be found on the pages for the individual towns.

Training, Identification and Selling

After clearing out a dungeon you usually want to get your reward if you have just completed a quest. You then want to sell your loot to the highest bidder and probably turn your new won skill points into genuine skills. The training establishments are just listed with the name of the trainer and the town. The price you get when selling depends on your reputation and bartering skill. Funnily enough healers offer the best price, if you ask for Healing! The values given here are based on a reputation of 38 and barter 2 for each member of the party. The actual price you will be offered will naturally be different, but the list can be used for comparison. If you have enough skill in barterering everbody offers you a good price which tops out at 60%. In the list of people who will identify items I have also noted the cost.

One of the most important spells in the game; level 3 hastes all members of the party.
Miles, Formello
Ambrin, Tower of Magi
Library, Patrick's Tower
Tome in SW of Tower of Magi (needs Dispel Barrier)

7 Ice Lances
a lifesaver early on before you get Lightning Spray

a useful alternative to lock picks; L3 works on any door which does not need a key.

Calls up lots of creatures, which disappear when attacked. Not much use. I occasionally use it to help locate Black Shades or Guardians.

10 Far Sight
useful for finding hidden rooms on towns and dungeons. Level 3 also works outdoors.
Ambrin, Tower of Magi Tome Ogre Cave and Hidden Pool outdoors

6 Smite Claudette, Formello
Throndell , Tower of Magi
empty room, Fort Avernum

9 Unshackle Mind
a must against enemies that use nasty magic like paralysing or Control Mind.
Throndell , Tower of Magi Claudette, Formello (reward for finding scroll in Khoth's Lair)

Some skills can be bought from people, but only upto level 5 and sometimes only under particular conditions (reputation high enough, task completed etc.). The Hints Book says that Pathfinder can be learnt in Fort Dranlon. I have not however found out how or from whom!
