General Hints

The Stagnant Tunnels are halfway down the first arm of the Waterfall Warren. They are full of stinking backwaters and nasty monsters like basilisks, eye beasts and imps.

Notes

When you enter the cave you find a swampy bank with some corpses. There is a boat you can use to navigate the stagnant waters. To the SW is a cave with an eye beast and three gremlins, who drop nothing.

In the SE is a tunnel where a ghost will tell you a bit about Thralni, his orb, the First Expedition and the basiliks which killed him. If you insult him he will turn hostile.

In the middle is an eye beast and lots of basilisks. There is not much treasure here, but look at the nests.

NW of the central area is a small landing place with two asps and a curious well but nothing else.

The Orb

In the middle of the northern arm is a landing stage. To the west are another eye beast and further gremlins. To the east are some bodies with a few useful items on them. The Orb of Thralni is simply lying in the SE corner!

Lich

In the NE corner is a locked door which leads into a lobby with a further locked door to the south. This one needs Open Doors level 3. There are however hidden doors into the storeroom to the east and into the treasure room to the west. Whether you go through the door or through one of the side rooms you will come to a library with 4 Vengeful Shades (tricky) and a Lich (very tricky). There are some Historical and other Scrolls in the bookcases. To the south are two tomes which teach the first seven mage and priest spells at level 2 to all party members who have spell casting ability. To the NE is a secret storeroom with some useful potions including a Knowledge Brew. To the NW is a hidden treasure room with some useful loot (a Ring of illness, Mithlral Chain Mail, a Rod of Arcana and coins) in the chests.
