Swamp City

When you enter you have to cross a narrow bridge across the moat under enemey fire, so it is a good idea to haste the party and otherwise prepare for a battle as soon as you get inside the cave.

In the central area there are a lot of Sliths who you need to eliminate before proceeding further. In the west is a fish breeding area. and to the east a smithy. There is a bit of treasure around, to the west fish. In the northwest is the Slith nursery where you also meet a bit of reistance. In the centre of the north wall is a pool with a small island. Behind the two tables is the neucleus of the hatchery where you can destroy the eggs. If you do so, the enraged Slith Chieftain appears with an entourage of 2 Warriors, 2 Flingers and 5 Sliths. The chieftain drops a Mercuric Chain and a Yvoss-tai Warspear.

There is a small shrine in the NW corner. One of the chests contains a few items you could take. In the other is an Onyx Key whch will be useful later.

To the NE is the Temple with priests and slith warriors lead by Shaman Gyss-Astha. There are three entrances to the temple: from the north, from the middle of the cave or from the smithy in the south. The door to the smithy is open, so it is better to enter via the closed door to the north or in the middle. In this way you have a chance to prepare for a battle. Gyss-Astha drops a Girdle of Garwain.

To the north of the temple is a room with a bathing pool and two locked doors. The western one leads to two tomes: the left one teaches you War Blessing L3; the right one tells a bit about the Empire.

The room to the East is storeroom with lots of mundane but useful items like lanterns or cheap saleable items like incense. The chests contain a few interesting items such as sugar (you could give to Gad in Formello).

• On the north wall of the room with the two tomes is a button which opens a way to the west. On a pedestal in the west of this room is the Slith Tome that Mairwen wants.
• In the niche to the east of the temple is a button on the north wall just east of the door to the storeroom which opens a passage to the south. The two chests which are protected by a trap (TU 7) contain about 250 coins and a few saleable items.

Having cleared the cave you can head off to Dranlon to get your rewards. On the way out however you come across a problem. An ambush!
